Marking Our City with the Compassion of Christ

hA facility to have Christ-based compassion ministries that reach to every area of human need. Facilities will be expandable with ministries such as:

  • Senior Living Center
  • Cars Ministry
  • Battered Women’s Shelter
  • Clothing Boutique
  • Food Pantry
  • Home for Unwed Mothers
  • Crisis Pregnancy Center
  • Homeless Shelter

18 months ago Grace Church purchased a facility in the inner city of Houston, which is now a homeless shelter housing up to 150 people with a church and community center. The shelter is different than many homeless centers in that the residents are allowed to stay on a 24-hour basis. Clients are drug addicts, families facing abuse, and some have been recently released from prison. Those who have stayed in the program have had an 80% success rate in reentering as a productive member of society. The goal for those in the program is to help them obtain a job, help them save some money, and locate an apartment for them once they have left the facility. Currently, a third of the residents are children, more than 40% are women. All the children go to school where they are tested for HIV and Tuberculosis and given standardized immunizations, all with 100% promotion rate into the next grade. Clients are being back into society within 90 days. The shelter is located in the top percent in our city of high crime, drug dealing, teenage pregnancy.

“The vision of Grace Village is what we are all about, helping people in need in a way that gives them dignity is worth sacrifice and giving.”
                   -Barry & Kara Cocheu
